Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of Lincoln Residents Directory. By using the pages, a visitor accepts the terms below. Anyone who does not accept them should leave the service and should contact the official custodian directly for a record request.

1. The Service's Role

Lincoln Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It explains and links to public rolls, record indexes, libraries, archives, and directory collections associated with Lincoln, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with the City of Lincoln, Placer County, California agencies, a court, or a records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use these pages only for lawful purposes and in a way that respects other people and the source offices. A visitor may not use the service or anything reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Scrape, republish, or copy the pages at scale
  • Interfere with the service, its security, or its operation

California privacy rights may also apply to personal data held by a business under Civil Code sections 1798.100 through 1798.199.100. Those rights do not turn this reference into a custodian of City or County records.

3. No Consumer Reports

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Neither the text here nor a result returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report. No information from the service may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Third-Party Links

Official portals, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored search tools maintain their own terms, pricing, availability, and data practices. Lincoln Residents Directory does not control those destinations and is not responsible for their content or conduct.

5. No Warranty

The service is supplied "as is" and "as available." No warranty is made that a statement is complete, accurate, current, or fit for a particular purpose, or that an outside portal will stay online or return a correct result. Confirm significant information with the office that holds the record.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource. This includes an action taken because of a record or description found through the service.

7. Indemnity

A user agrees to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from the user's misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Copyright and Design

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the service and are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution is welcome. Republishing a full page or systematically copying the directory is not permitted.

9. Changes

These terms may be revised by posting a new version here. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated language.

10. Access Restrictions

The operators may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or threatens its security. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Public-record references are informed by the California Public Records Act, Government Code Division 10, sections 7920.000 and following. That law addresses access to existing public records; it does not make this private reference the custodian of a Lincoln or Placer County record.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Record requests, corrections, and certified-copy questions should go to the named custodian rather than to this reference.
